Wang Mo Ping was an Associate Professor teaching at the Hubei Academy Fine Arts from the years 1995 to 2003, and after migrating to Singapore in 2001, he became a lecturer at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) from the years 2002 to 2006.
Since becoming a local artist in the Lion City, Wang Mo Ping has taken into perspective to paint Singapore’s nearby islands and its neighbouring countries' beauty. His paintings convey the qualities and beauty of our beloved Mother Nature through his visual sensitivity to light and form. His impressionist paintings of our local surroundings exude an atmosphere of peace and timeless beauty. Through his art, he has captured and cast Pulau Ubin not only to his liking but in the perception of his viewers as well. He also took a stride in painting Penang’s fishing village which unravels that simplicity and a simple life that is not far off from the grid; the luscious greens, simple boats and the quiet lake illustrates a place that us as viewers want to dwell at. He has also painted fruits and baskets; the rich choice of colour scheme is evident that he mirrored the model he used for his painting, thus transpiring an identical replica onto his canvas.
In 2019, Wang’s artwork named 'Jurong Fishery Port' won first place at the Singapore Art Society's annual Dr Tan Tsze Chor Art Awards. As an acclaimed artist, he has participated in a number of shows and garnered numerous awards for his work, including the National Youth Water Color Art Exhibition Artistic Award where he won first prize. His winning artwork “Noon”, was later collected by the China Artist Association. Both local and international galleries, as well as private collections have sought to acquire his attractive body of artworks.
