BORN: 1957

LIVES AND WORKS: INDIA
Growing up, Mr. Patil was heavily inspired by his mother and grandfather, as both were artists. He took formal education - Degree in Fine Arts (Paintings) from Abhinav College of Arts - Pune, India.
During his college days, he was greatly inspired by his Master in college, Mr. Kamat, who had taken education under the British Staff of quality painters. His impact has remained on Mr. Patil’s works, as with other old Masters who inspired him, such as Edward Seago, John Singer Sargent, Bernard Dunstan, etc.
He prefers doing small pencil sketches and then converting them into final paintings, using watercolour or oil. He enjoys touring and has seen a variety of cultures that form the subjects of his paintings. Typical Indian culture can be enjoyed in his works.
Various techniques are applied by him to create movements and subtleness in his paintings, like dotting, scraping, loading thick oil colours, etc. He likes to work in the Impressionistic style, and hence works loosely on his paintings, avoiding sharp outlines of subjects. Instead, you would find that the subjects in his paintings have merged into one another and formed total harmony amongst themselves. He is also very fond of painting in watercolours and gets inspiration from living watercolour Masters like Charles Reid, John Yardley, Don Andrews, and others.
He has his own studio in Pune, India where he works as a freelance artist. He has displayed his work in Pune, Bombay, Delhi, and other cities in India. His collectors are in India and abroad. He also trains a few students who take painting as a serious art form. His other hobbies are martial arts, collecting and reading books on painting, listening to music, and sketching.
