BORN: 1951
HOMETOWN: CHINA
Born in 1951, Ding Tao is a graduate of Liaoning Culture and Art University and was a researcher with the Oil Painting Department of Lu Xun Fine Art Academy. He has worked variously as an artist, stage designer, and art magazine editor. He is currently the principal of the Benxi City Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
Ding Tao is a multidisciplinary artist who works in both Chinese Ink and oil paint. His subjects of focus tend to range from landscape paintings to still life or flower paintings. His ink paintings tend to take on an air of eclecticism and fun, perhaps as a result of the fluid nature of Chinese ink - However, his ink paintings are never lacking in colour, as liberating flashes of bright yellow and orange can be seen bringing life to his charming rendition of a French town in “Town Scene” and “Small Town in France”.
He has participated in numerous art exhibitions held in China, Thailand, Japan, and France. He holds the designation of Grade 1 Artist and is a member of the Chinese Artist Association and the Chinese Oil Painting Society, as well as Resident Artist with the Liaoning Art Academy. His publications include Selected Oil Paintings by Ding Tao, and Ding Tao Oil Painting Collection and Techniques of Oil Landscape Painting.
