Mr. Thakurdas had a keen interest in painting right from childhood. Despite taking no formal education in the field of drawing and painting, he continued to paint on his own with strong determination to become a good artist.
He was able to learn a lot from his Master, who was also his friend, Mr. Dilip M. Patil. Although it took a long time to find a Master to learn from, the basic instinct to become a painter kept him busy. Today, he works independently as a freelance artist and earns his livelihood from it.
He is greatly inspired by the works of old impressionist Masters like Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, etc, whose impacts are felt in his work. You can enjoy the mixture of techniques of old Masters in his paintings like Feel of Movements created by dotting and lining, typical of Vincent Van Gogh, and also the loading of thick oil colours, Monet’s soft and harmonious colour schemes, Edgar Degas’ pastel-like textures, their composing sense, etc.
He mostly works on varied subjects and avoids repetition in his work. This is why people of various preferences can enjoy his shows due to the variety in subjects. He has travelled a lot in India and seen various cultures spread in the nook and corners of the country, which are depicted in his paintings.
His paintings have a realistic base and are mostly on Indian culture. He likes to work in Impressionistic Style and avoids photofinisher-type detailed work in his paintings. He enjoys the job of abstracting realism in his paintings and work with mixed media like pastels, acrylic, colour pencils, and watercolours. Some of his work consists of series on Horses in Mixed Media, Weathered Textures in Oil, and others which have been much loved and admired in his home country shows.
He wishes to live as a painter throughout his life. His other hobbies include Taekwondo, visiting art galleries, travelling, reading, and collecting books on painters.
