Professor Xing Peng Zhu was born in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China. He was admitted to the Northeast College of Fine Arts in 1953 and the Oil Painting Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1957. Graduating with honours in 1961, he was assigned to teach in Central Minzu College in Beijing. Xing Peng Zhu does realistic oil paintings of various scenes, many pastoral, and each with a different story to tell. Many of his paintings show elements of animals and nature, or spontaneous moments of the human experience immortalised in his vivid, detail-oriented paintings. “Tiger” is a particularly eye-catching piece, as it shows the majestic, usually ferocious animal in a peaceful moment, complemented by a ruffled shower of golden autumn leaves in the background.
