Hu Zhi Jun

HOMETOWN: NINGBO, CHINA

Before becoming an artist, Hu Zhi Jun (b. 1921-2007) was the manager of the Shanghai Electric Power Equipment Company. In 1947, he became a disciple of one of China’s well-known cartoonists, Mr. Feng Zikai. Hu Zhi Jun’s style was heavily influenced by Feng Zikai and his works have been well received in his exhibitions held in Singapore.

The themes in his cartoons are interesting, often involving a community in a rural or country setting in China. The usage of cartoons to portray a communal spirit and the everyday life of villagers is inspiring and unique.
