Guo Chang Xin graduated from the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1965. He specialises in oil painting with numerous works mostly recreating sceneries of villages in their natural environment. His painting techniques showcase realistic landscapes with short strokes of varying shades and hues, paying attention to every detail. His works present the natural flow between his main subject(s) and their surroundings, with every element blending together beautifully.
The mix of colours Guo uses in his many paintings indicates the natural changes of the seasons that he managed to captivate and present amazingly on the canvases. His snowscape pieces give off the illusion of depth of snowfall on the village and farm areas in winter, accompanied by a cooler temperature in the colour scheme chosen. In contrast, his analogous colour scheme for his landscape art pieces show the vibrant green that spring entails. Guo also paints autumn with a warmer tint in yellow and orange tones that the autumn sun cast on the landscapes he captured during that season.
Guo is a member of the Shenguo Artists Association and the China Printmakers Association. Many of his works have been published, collected or displayed in major exhibitions at home and abroad. Some of his pieces have won him awards as well. His works are collected by museums, such as the Chinese Art Museum in Toronto, Canada, and other domestic and foreign collectors.
