Jiang Tian Yu was born in Xu Zhou, Jiang Su Province of China. He graduated from the art department of Jiang Su Normal University in 1986.
When looking at Jiang’s monochromatic oil series, one thing becomes clear - his limited use of colour, or rather his singular focus on the gorgeous royal blue colour which results in many variations of shade, results in an effect that conveys simplicity, peacefulness, starkness, and purity. By working in monochrome, or using one colour, it allows us to focus on the beauty of shape, form and texture instead of being distracted by a loud colour palette. His paintings are both tranquil and muted in colour scheme, whilst stark and bold in terms of it's distinguished forms that represent nature. His visual language is one that is indeed satisfying to read and deconstruct, also utilizing blue which is unanimously one of the most popular colours, and signifies the qualities of open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination and inspiration.
Jiang Tian Yu has had a commendable track record in art exhibitions in his youth, starting from 1993 in the Guang Zhou 90’s two years exhibition. In 1995, he exhibited at the China Art Gallery for an oil painting exhibition, and then in 1997 for the China Young Artist oil painting exhibition in the China world trade centre, and later again that year at the China First Landscape oil painting exhibition. A proud supporter of his works, the China Art Gallery endorsed him for another show in 1998, for another oil painting exhibition featuring oil paintings. In 1999, his works works were displayed at the Jiang Su 20th Century oil painting exhibition at Nanjing art gallery.
