Angeline Choo Ai Loon is an outstanding artist who specializes in painting orchids. A graduate of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore, Ai Loon has taken part in numerous art exhibitions locally and overseas. i.e., National Day Art Exhibitions, New Generation of Singapore Artist in 1984, National Museum Centenary Art Exhibition in 1987, Singapore Art Exhibition in Yokohama, Japan in1988, President Charity Show in1996, etc.
She takes pride in using the National Flower of Singapore, the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchids, as the focal point of her paintings. She uses contrasting colours to make the orchids, the distinguishing factor of her paintings, the main point of attraction. Specifically, dulling out the background using colours that embody dark and grayish hues, and using bright colours like hot pink and yellow on the flora.
Ai Loon has won several awards in her artistic career and her works of art are collected by the National Museum of Singapore, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affair, Port Authority of Singapore, Hong Leong Group of Companies, United Overseas Bank, Bank of Tokyo, and more.
